Hurrah! School’s out for half term. Didn’t that go quick? If you are anything like me then I am already on the hunt for things to do next week. With so much to see and do, the kids might think they have done it all. From museums to nature trails, there are plenty of exciting attractions out there, but many of us find ourselves visiting the same places time and time again. I should have organised a few days out on the calendar already, but half term has sneaked up on us quite honestly…we have only one play date in the diary next week!
Keeping the kids occupied over the October half term break can be a costly time for parents, with cinema visits, day trips and eating out all adding up. However, with a little bit of planning (and abit of help from a free app) you can get out and explore your local area, or further afield on a budget to suit you.
I used to spend hours (and I mean hours) scanning the internet for 'things to do in Kent' or 'things to do in Sussex' etc, but that probably wasn't the swiftest way to get the best information.
In hindsight, being a woman in tech, I should have used some kind of app to download the information I needed, but it has completely slipped my mind. Do you use any apps to find family fun near you? If not, I have something that might be of interest.
I have a solution to help you plan some ideas and enjoy a brilliant break with the little ones. I was recently contacted by the app company, Family Fun Finder. To give us all a helping hand, they have created a free app of the same name which makes it easy to find a fun day out for your family.
Available for Android, iPhones and iPads. I downloaded Family Fun Finder for myself and within seconds, I could instantly see a map with coloured markers of attractions and family days out near my location.
Even though I know our home county quite well, the app highlighted a few attractions we haven't ventured to before, which is exactly why it is a great app to download and try to help you plan some ideas and enjoy a brilliant break with the little ones.
Here are all the links you need to get started. I hope that is really helpful to get your little ones out the door and having fun this half term.
